The European health industry is undergoing rapid transformation. As we face growing challenges relatedto the resilience of supply chains, medicines manufacturing, data governance, and digital innovation, one thing is clear: our workforce must evolve too.

Building the EU Health Industry Skills Strategy

To address these challenges, the BRIGHTskills Project is working to develop a forward looking EU Health Industry Skills Strategy — a shared framework that will:

·      Strengthen talent pipelines by identifying effective upskilling and reskilling practices,

·      Foster collaboration between industry stakeholders and education providers,

·      Align training with evolving labour market needs,

·      Support industry innovation and competitiveness; helping Europe remain a global leader in health technologies.

The Strategy will not only empower workers and employers to adapt — it will help ensure that Europe’s health industry remains resilient, competitive, and future-ready.

One of our first steps?Identifying what’s already working — and building on it.

The BRIGHTskills Best Practices Questionnaire

We are launching a Europe-widecall for input to identify and map the most effective initiatives, programmes, and policies already supporting workforce development across the health industry and related sectors - including Pharmaceuticals and Biomanufacturing, MedTech, Digital Health, and Medical Supplies.

A best practice refers to any initiative that has successfully advanced skills through upskilling, reskilling, or workforce transformation—and that shows potential for scaling, replication, or long-term impact.

We are looking for examples of what has worked — and why — to identify practices that can be scaled up, transferred, or serve as inspiration across Europe.

Who should participate?

We welcome responses from any organisation or stakeholder involved in workforce and skills development, including:

  • HR professionals, training managers and learning & development leads in health-related industries
  • Employers and industry associations involved in designing or delivering training
  • Education and training providers, including VET institutions, universities, and micro-credential platforms
  • Public authorities and policymakers involved in regional or national upskilling strategies
  • Digital manufacturing, or regulatory actors with transferable models from adjacent sectors

Why Your Input Matters

By completing the questionnaire, you contribute to:

Shaping EU policy and funding strategies in skills and training
Benchmarking your approach against innovative peers
Promoting your initiative across the EU as a best-practice example
Staying informed about upcoming BRIGHTskills courses and project outputs.

About the Questionnaire*

·      Takes approx. 15 minutes to complete

·      Structured in 3 parts: Initiative details, Description, Contact information

·      You can submit more than one initiative if applicable

·      Responses will inform future BRIGHTskills deliverables and policy recommendations.

The future of Europe’s health industry depends on forward-thinking people and pioneering approaches to workforce development.
