The BRIGHTskills project is leading the charge to future-proof the European health industry by identifying and addressing the skills needed for a rapidly evolving sector. As part of this mission, we have launched one online consultation aimed at collecting input from stakeholders across the EU. Whether you are involved in training or workforce planning, or you are employed in a healthcare company, your input will help shape the skills strategy and tools that will guide the sector forward.

On 30 June 2026, the BRIGHTskills project held its second Co-Creation Workshop, bringing together stakeholders from across Europe’s health industry ecosystem.

Hosted and facilitated by IESE Business School, the one-day workshop focused on the emerging skills that Europe’s health industry will need as technological advances, regulatory developments, sustainability priorities and new models of healthcare delivery continue to transform the sector. It followed the project’s first co-creation workshop on urgent skills, using a similar collaborative approach to translate identified workforce needs into practical training concepts.

Participants worked in multidisciplinary teams, drawing on findings from the BRIGHTskills skills intelligence activities and upcoming report. These findings high lighted several important challenges, including the shortage of professionals able to work across technical, clinical, regulatory and digital fields.

The workshop also opened an important discussion about how the BRIGHTskills CompetencyFramework could evolve to reflect emerging industry needs. Participants proposed giving artificial intelligence greater visibility as a stand alone competency, introducing dedicated competencies for crisis and risk management and human centredness, and broadening the existing green-health competency to cover sustainability more comprehensively. These proposals will be considered by the wider BRIGHTskills consortium.

Flexible and accessible learning remained central to the discussions. The proposed courses are intended to be short, practical and adaptable, combining expert input with activities such as case studies, simulations, peer learning and scenario-based exercises. This approach reflects the working realities of health-industry professionals, who often face significant time and budget constraints when accessing continuing education.

The workshop marked another important milestone in the BRIGHTskills training journey. By connecting research evidence with the knowledge and experience of project partners and stakeholders, BRIGHTskills is helping to prepare Europe’s health-industry workforce to respond to change and contribute to a more innovative, resilient and sustainable ecosystem.
