The BRIGHTskills consortium held its second General Assembly Meeting on 21–22 January at IESE Business School in Barcelona, bringing partners together to review progress, exchange ideas and look ahead to the next stages of the project. The meeting marked an important moment for aligning priorities and strengthening collaboration as BRIGHTskills moves from planning toward concrete actions.
Partners shared key insights into the evolving skills needs of the health industry. During a dedicated workshop on skills intelligence, discussions highlighted the growing demand for transversal, regulatory, AI and leadership skills, alongside the need for professionals capable of working across sectors and disciplines. A key focus of the meeting was the development of the upcoming Skills Strategy for Europe's health industry, with partners aligning on its mission and vision to better match education and training with labour market needs and create a roadmap for upskilling and reskilling in line with demand.
Consortium partners highlighted the ongoing challenges and gaps in existing training materials targeting the needs of health industry, including limited access to practical, EU-focused learning opportunities and the rapid impact of new technologies. Strong attention was given to the finalisation and piloting of new training courses addressing the workforce's urgent skills needs and to better align the course content with the identified learning gaps. Scheduled to begin in May, these courses will be delivered through hybrid formats, including in-person, online live, and online self-paced modes. The training courses aim to expand access to learning across Europe for health industry professionals, learners and future workforce entrants, while maintaining high standards of quality and accreditation.
Finally, the meeting reaffirmed the strategic importance of strong industry engagement and large-scale collaboration. By bringing together education providers, industry leaders, and stakeholders, BRIGHTskills continues to build a solid foundation for a future-ready health industry workforce.
